National Grid was happy to bring gas service
into this LI home. These "New Home Owners" were mortified when they started recieving
costly oil deliveries one after the other. After three months into
their first winter, they immediatley made arrangements to bring gas
service into the house.
More
efficient equipment and systems was the game plan. Gas fired
stoves, dryers and boiler would be used to achieve a more
economical monthly operating budget.
Due to years of hodge podge renovations and repairs
made in the house, the basement was totally stripped of all the plumbing except
the sanitary lines. New "Viega Manabloc"
domestic water manifolds were installed and all the hot and
cold water lines were replaced with
"Viega FostaPex". The first floor radiators and second floor risers were also repiped individualy back to the boiler room with
"FostaPex".
The new system
consists of a Burnham Alpine boiler and a Triangle Tube Phase III indirect hot water tank. The "DuraVent PolyPro"
vent
system was used in the existing chimney to vent
the new boiler. Viega radiator manifolds provide an efficient and easy method to balance
the heat throughout the house. Honeywell wireless internet thermostats were also installed to monitor and control
the system remotely
via the web.
All in all, these
homeowners have experienced their first winter season with their new systems in place and can not believe how they
cut their monthly
budget by more than half.
That alone
will keep anybody "warm and cozy".
